I would rather go to work an eight-hour shift than go shopping for maternity clothes at the mall. That's how painfully bad the selection is. In a typical clothing store for expectant mothers, not only are the garments overpriced and poorly made, but they're absolutely hideous. I wouldn't even want to put that maternity blouse in my closet for fear of offending my other clothes. The colors and prints are so unappealing that even little kids with no grasp of fashion sense make fun of them.

What's to be done about this neglect on the part of maternity wear designers? Do they really believe that we don't have the will or the right to look sexy when we leave the house? Don't pregnant women have enough problems already with morning sickness, back pain and the dangers of swine flu? Is this some sort of conspiracy to imprison us in our homes since we wouldn't be caught dead in public wearing a vomit green pleated belly blou! se?

There are tons of stylish tops, pants, dresses, suits and even intimate wear. Not every pregnant woman is made alike, and there are designs to flatter every body type. This is my first pregnancy and I know I'll be much better equipped next time around, and I'm not referring to Lamaze classes! I can feel confident knowing that I have sexy, comfortable clothes that fit and make me feel as gorgeous on the outside as I feel on the inside.
